Franz West was awarded with 1998 Wolfgang-Hahn-Preis der Gesellschaft für moderne Kunst am Museum Ludwig, Cologne.

He participated at documenta IX 1992 and documenta X 1997. He was included in the Venice Biennals in 2007 and 1997.

In 2011 he was awarded the Golden Lion at the 54th Venice Biennale.

Franz West’s work was the subject of numerous solo exhibitions. His works are included in public collections such as Albertina Museum, Vienna, Centre Pompidou, Paris, Solomon R. Guggenheim, New York, Hirschhorn Museum, Washington D.C., Kunsthaus Bregenz, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and Museum Ludwig, Cologne, among others.
